Child Protection Policy with Reference to WAFC Juniors
Introduction:
This Child Protection policy (CPP) has been produced to cover the above mentioned juniors in which provision has been made to ensure that:
• The welfare of the children is paramount.
• All children have the right to protection from abuse.
• All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
• All the coaching staff have a responsibility to report any concerns to the Child Welfare Officer.
Policy Statement:
Whitehaven AFC (WAFC) has a duty of care to safeguard all children involved with WAFC from harm. All children have a right to protection and WAFC will ensure the safety and protection of all children involved in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Child protection procedures. The policy is also to protect the voluntary adult staff as well as the children.
Voluntary Staff:
The Child Welfare Officer is Malcolm Holliday with Geoff Nicholson, David Moore and Shaun Hocking filling in as deputy if necessary.
Selection was based on the following:
• Personal Interview.
• References.
• Criminal Records Bureau clearance.
• Evidence of identity.
All the remaining coaching staff of WAFC has had the CPP explained to them and have signed a code of ethics policy which explains their code of behaviour.
Records:
The Child Welfare Officer has an incident book to record all relevant details, he has a set of procedures to follow in the event of suspicion or an allegation of abuse as laid down in the guidelines by the Child Protection Procedures and has contact numbers of the Social Services and the NSPCC. The Child Welfare Officer will respond in the appropriate manner to any allegations as set out in the Child Protection Booklet and confidentiality will be upheld at all times.
Review:
The policy will be reviewed every 12 months and the next review date will be 01/08/2008.
Insurance:
A relevant liability insurance policy with the Football Association is in place. The policy is with the Royal & Sun Alliance - Policy No RKJ957085
